Network Monitoring API
The Linux Networking Monitoring Application Programming Interface (or MAPI for short) is a new solution for monitoring networks. The main goal is that of scalability and efficiency. MAPI is aimed at networks with heavy traffic requirements and it is particulary suited for Gigabit networks. The main feature that differentiates MAPI from similar solutions is that instead of being purely userspace it "pushes" the core of its functionality inside the kernel space (implemented as a Linux kernel module) while keeping the control interface only, at the userspace level.
